Postdoctoral Fellow in Preclinical Immuno-Oncology

Compass Therapeutics is a biopharmaceutical company focused on drugging the immune system to treat human diseases.  Using its proprietary antibody discovery and screening platforms, Compass has generated a portfolio of next generation immunomodulatory biologic drug candidates, drug combinations, and multispecifics addressing unmet medical needs in oncology, autoimmunity and other diseases.

Our Translational Immunology group is seeking a unique Postdoctoral Fellow in Preclinical Immuno-Oncology.

Basic Description:

The successful candidate will design and execute experiments to identify the cellular and molecular determinants of sensitivity/resistance to cancer immunotherapy in mouse tumor models. This position will require extensive in vivo tumor model work, with deep ex vivo characterization of tumor-infiltrating leukocytes, cancer cells, and stromal cells using a wide variety of techniques (gene profiling, flow cytometry, multiplex cytokine/chemokine profiling, immunohistochemistry, etc.).

Based on their findings, the incumbent will form biomarker hypotheses for indication selection and patient stratification in the clinic. This will involve interrogating the translatability of mouse data to humans through the analysis of candidate biomarker expression using publicly available gene expression databases and from the hands-on study of human primary tumor tissues and blood.

In this high-impact role, the incumbent will have the opportunity to elucidate the mechanism of action for a wide-range of therapeutic strategies, including novel immuno-oncology combinations, and to propose data-driven ideas for novel therapeutic concepts, combinations, and drug discovery programs.

Compass has assembled a world-class team of scientists who are wholly focused on the eradication of cancer and other diseases through modulation of the immune system. The successful candidate’s technical skills and scientific knowledge will be further developed by continuous learning and training at Compass.

Compass expects all Postdoctoral Fellows to publish their findings in high-impact journals and present their work at scientific conferences.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. related to the field of Immunology
  • Broad understanding of tumor immunology & immune evasion mechanisms
  • Experience studying immunotherapies in mouse tumor models and ex vivo analyses by FACS, mRNA profiling, and/or other methods

Compass Therapeutics offers individually-tailored compensation packages which include competitive cash compensation, meaningful equity participation, comprehensive healthcare and adoption benefits, continuous career development, sabbatical programs, education reimbursement and many other benefits aligned with our philosophy of putting our team first.
